Project Tabs
Omniscribe lets you open multiple projects at the same time using tabs. Each tab is a fully independent workspace with its own sessions, theme, and configuration.
Opening Projects
There are two ways to add a project tab:
- Click the + button in the tab bar to open a folder picker
- Open a project folder from the welcome view or recent projects list
Each project opens in its own tab. You can have as many tabs open as you need.
Switching Tabs
- Click a tab to switch to it
- Keyboard: press
Cmd/Ctrl + 1throughCmd/Ctrl + 9to jump to a tab by position
Closing Tabs
- Keyboard: press
Cmd/Ctrl + Wto close the active tab - Mouse: click the close button on the tab
Closing a tab stops all running sessions in that project. You will be prompted to confirm if sessions are still active.
Tab Reordering
Drag and drop tabs to rearrange them. The new order persists across app restarts.
Tab Status Indicators
Each tab displays a colored status indicator reflecting the aggregate state of its sessions:
- Working -- at least one session is actively running
- Needs input -- a session is waiting for your response
- Idle -- all sessions are idle or no sessions are running
This lets you monitor progress across multiple projects without switching tabs.
Independent Workspaces
Each project tab is fully isolated:
- Sessions -- each tab has its own session grid and pre-launch slots
- Theme -- each tab can use a different UI theme (set in Settings > Appearance)
- Terminal output -- switching between tabs preserves all terminal content; nothing is lost
Recent Projects
Omniscribe remembers your recently opened projects across restarts. When you launch the app, the welcome view shows your project history so you can reopen previous projects with a single click.
